Our $50 commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Stone Wall Rebellion and is dedicated to Harvey Milk, the first gay politician ever elected to office in California.
Milk was assassinated eleven months after taking office and is considered to be the most famous and most significantly open LGBT official ever elected in the United States".
His action plan was simple. He encouraged gays to come to their relatives, friends and to all those with whom they associate, believing such visibility would help to end the discrimination and violence against them.
